About us

Meet Layne

My name is Layne Garrett, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I received my MA in Professional Counseling from Dallas Baptist University. I started my professional experience at the Turning Point Rape Crisis Center in Plano, TX. There I began working with survivors of sexual trauma, helping them process and find new hope and direction for their lives.

I have worked with family members of survivors to teach them how to support their loved one. I am originally from the great state of Georgia where I taught High School History for about 10 years. Counseling is a second career for me, but has been my passion for a long time.

I am a mom of 4 and have been married for 21 years. I am EMDR trained. I partner with my clients to develop the best treatment plan tailored to their needs. I want all of my clients to know that you are not alone. I am dedicated to helping you Cultivate your new healing journey.

Meet Heather

I am passionate about helping adult survivors of childhood trauma and working with couples to navigate challenging life experiences.

I served as the Clinical Director of Children First Counseling Center for five years, where I worked with children, adults, couples, and families dealing with domestic violence, childhood sexual abuse, and intimate partner violence. My experience also includes serving as the Program Director and Clinical Supervisor on a Mobile Crisis Assessment Team and am proud to have served as the Senior Director of Programs at The Turning Point Rape Crisis Center in Collin County, where I led a team of skilled, trauma-trained professionals.

In addition to my professional experience, I am an EMDR Certified therapist, and hold a Level II Certification in Restoration Therapy. I am also an ICP (IASIS Certified Provider- IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback) and am trained in Prepare/Enrich, a program designed to help couples navigate the challenges of married life.

Outside of my work, I have been married for 32 years and have three grown children. As a therapist, I understand the importance of building a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients, and I bring warmth, empathy, and a personal touch to my practice.

Testimonial

I began to have an almost crippling fear of flying. It wasn’t a fear of a plane crash, but something else I couldn’t understand. I spoke to Layne and explained what was happening and after digging deep, she traced a specific childhood trauma to air travel. She recommended we do EMDR and I immediately agreed. After our initial session, I felt relief but it wasn’t until my next trip that I realized the difference in me. I no longer have the anxiety and fear that I thought would change my life…not for the better. I can find peace in the moments that brought me uneasiness and insecurity. -Millie R.
